6.375 x 9.25"; 24 pages. Dos-à-dos binding. Bound in stiff handmade raw flax paper with titles and illustrations on both covers. Letterpress printed from monotype cast by Michael Bixler on Zerkall Nideggen and hand-dyed Gasen Bamboo. Images printed from photopolymer plates made from original drawings by Nicholas Rubin.

A letterpress printing of Tennyson's "The Mermaid / The Merman" accompanied with illustrations of jarringly modern merpeople clad in diving suits and scuba gear by Brooklyn based artist Nicholas Rubin. Each image is hidden by a sheet of fragile and delicately colored paper that must be lifted by the reader. This is a fine press book that must be handled. The images are so incongruous, so unexpected, that the relief is mildly delirious – like being underwater?
