Boo Gilder: "Cane Syrup examines the Kiser family’s annual day long ritual of making cane syrup from scratch in the rural community of Pike Road, Alabama. Every year on Thanksgiving Day the Kiser's spend all day cooking down cane that neighbors have grown for this sole purpose. Lois, matriarch of the family and keeper of the cane syrup, runs the show. This small volume contains a portion of a transcribed interview with Lois and black and white images which describe the atmosphere of the day and rhythm of the work."
