Howard Munson: "A bow before I begin walking under the tori entrance on the path toward a Shinto shrine in Kyoto, staying close to the side of the path leaving room in the center for the Kami. I approach the shrine and pass a large alter box filled with Goma prayer sticks on which are written prayers and desires to be burned in a fire ritual performed in esoteric Buddhism to lead people to a spiritually higher realm."
