Light
Etchings and poems by
Morley Clark. In her project statement Clark says; "The idea
of writing a book about light from my perspective as a painter began
several years ago. The form that continually emerged was poetry-a
poetry about light as a palpable, metaphorical entity that shapes
the space, time, and memory of a moment. As the poems neared completion
it became evident that images should accompany the words. Images
were not made for specific poems, pairing occurred during the process
of etching the plates and after the etchings were complete."
Etchings and poems appear on separate sheets alternately layered
in a drop-spine box. Etchings handprinted by David Kelso at Made
in California from 16-gauge copper plates. Poems handset in Bembo
and printed letterpress on Rives BFK by Marie Dern at Jungle Garden
Press. Box by John DeMerritt covered in black, Italian bookcloth.
