Oxford Guild of Printers ~ England

The Oxford Guild of Printers, 2000.
The Oxford Guild of Printers, 2000. A set of twenty-six, boxed fascicles written and printed by members of the Guild. Each booklet details the story of an individual printer's or a press's printing life and experiences. These small volumes are as delightfully diverse in content and approach as the members themselves and give a fascinating insight into printing at the end of the twentieth century. Originally planned as a millennium project, the set was completed in the spring of 2001. Presses include: Alembic, Acorn, Parrot, Incline, Tern, and Whittington. Variously printed and illustrated, including linocuts and woodblock prints. Includes a brief history of the Guild. The collection is housed in a blue cloth-over-board box that opens like a self-enclosing drawer. Blue ribbons are attached to the inside of the slipcase and thread through the base of the inner box. They keep the structure linked together and lift the pamphlets up for easy access as one draws the box open. A wonderful array of styles, approaches, and stories. Edition of 100. (7.5 x 8 x 3.5 inches boxed.)
$325
